Just doesnt work

My public library doesn’t work with Overdrive, so I am forced to use this app, except this app just does not work. I was finally able to get an audio book downloaded, but I am unable to get an E-book to do the same. I am using a 2012 Macbook Pro, completely updated, and downloaded the application from Apple app store. Everytime I try to get the e-book, I am directed to a web page that says the app is outdated. I go to the app store, no, I am updated. A real disappointment. What would be nice is if the app just launched the books, from any browser, so one could access their library seamlessly from most any user end point. I cannot bring in cell phones or tablets to my office, but I can access the internet, but I cannot download software to use this service at work. I want to be able to log in from home, work, on my tablet and my cell phone and continue to enjoy a book. I hope they fix anything with this app, as anything would be an improvement.
